Perry Marshall Just Gave Me A Great Wake Up Call
I’m going through a rationalization phase at the moment and ruthlessly pruning memberships to mailing lists and membership sites.
One guy who I won’t be severing ties with is Perry Marshall.
I’m a member of Perry’s Renaissance club and membership costs me a small fee of $29 or thereabouts per month. Perry provides great value, mailing me a no holds barred newsletter monthly which usually has some good value audio files enclosed.
I finally got some time to sit down and read Perry’s March newsletter which was mysteriously entitled “The Psychotic Weirdness of Marketing Dysfunctions, Inner Fantasies & Cult Behaviour.” Wow did Perry just give me a wake up call.
Here are just a few little gems from his 16 page missal.
“Scientific Advertising is Linear – Human Beings are Not”
“People are attracted to each other by two things – what they both love and what they both hate.”
“A community is a group of people who share the same stories”
“If you want to be ultra successful in life your mission is to build or transform a community”
OK they’re bullet points and I’m not going to copy and paste his newsletter but he really has inspired me firstly to cut free some of the baggage that I’ve acquired over the years (this includes several programs that I own and now realize are targeting the wrong audience) and secondly to really focus on something I own, love and really have been afraid to put my stamp on for five months.
The other thing that Perry has crystallized for me is the ability to outsource that work which I’m not an expert on – in truth I spend too much time building websites and systems when I should really be focussed upon doing what I’m good at writing and marketing.
Thanks Perry – I feel inspired.
